Undilah saya!!!!

Heheh..... Jumpa kat Bangkok, sama tak?

We were back on 25th Feb 08, around 2am, cepat-cepat terkam katil & Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...... I missed my bed sooooo...muchh!!! What about my journey? Details as below :)

Day 1 (The Day of Trials)

Departed from NE college at 9.30am, boarded the train to Sentral, took Aerobus to LCCT. Flight took off at 1.45pm & landed at 2.45 Bkk time. There were 20 of us including me, hubby & Arif (Arif ponteng ye??). I was quite surprised to see the minivan they described in e-mail was actually a spacious & comfy 12 seater van.

Safely landed at the hostel (students can't afford to pay much) in Sukhumvit area and the 1st challenge already knocking at my door. The manager didn't accept my credit card and asked for cash, which he didn't mention before, grrrrrr!!!!!!.... Hubby said we have to pay the manager with our shopping money and try to figure out how to settle the problem, huaaaaaa!!!!..

At night, we went to Usman Muslim Thai Food located at Sukhumvit Soi 22, beside Imperial Queens Park Hotel and had our yummy dinner there. The food was delicious and Arif booked the place for the days ahead, heheh....

Day 2 (The Day of Sharing)

The hostel is superbly clean, quiet and homely. Not suitable for family tho, everyday it's full of backpackers, and so it can quite noisy at times.

Depart at 8am for Silpakorn University. Had some discussion with Professor Watanapun Krutasaen, the Dean, Faculty of Decorative Arts and toured around the campus, which is located near the famous Grand Palace. The students had their lunch nearby & we ate fruits only lah, no choice.

After that, went to Chulalongkorn University to meet Professor Samart from Faculty of Fine and Applied Art and spent only two hours there because we were already tired, anxious to go home and get some rest. Drop by at one bank and now only we managed to withdraw the money,yeahh!!!...

Every Friday, Usman closed the shop. So, we have no choice but to take the Skytrain (close to the hostel) to Nana, stuffed our stomach with Briyani and after that, window shopping around the area.

Day 3 (The Day of Thunder)

Managed to catch a glimpse of 'Floating market'

Depart at 8am for Koh Kred Island, famous for its traditional pottery making. To start the fateful day, the driver parked the van at the wrong temple and we have to go through one very looooongg and narrow passage between small wooden shops to get to the right temple. The students were leisurely walking behind, and in the end they got lost and I lost my temper!! Lucky for them, they managed to see the ugly side of me, heheh....

Boarded the small ferry to the island and because I was soooooo... pissed off, I forgot to brief them about the purpose of the trip. Talking about anger management, hmphhh!!.. Once arrived, we can feel the air is fresher and cooler (until noon only tho). Only that, the toilet is not as decent as ours in Malaysia, and since we might spent hours in the island, we have no choice but to use it *sigh*

Rented a bike and cycled around the 7km trekked island, visited the pottery making village and bought some souvenirs before heading back to Chatuchak.

Deep fried mini crabs (you can eat the shell like crackers) and assortment of deep fried flowers.

Chatuchak, what can I say? For those who have been there, it's truly a shopping paradise and you can spend hours there browsing and drooling at dirt cheap items which you can't find at Malaysia. Not all things tho... Busily looking for things ordered by family and almost forgot to find my own...

At night, we went to Suan Lum Night Bazaar by taxi. Similarly Chatuchak, only the shops are more organized but most of the items are not as cheap as those at Chatuchak. Going back by TukTuk, and we had one hell of a ride, what a nightmare!!!

Day 4 (The Day of Pain)

Depart at 9.30am for Chatuchak by Skytrain with the students. Took 25 minutes to arrive and started shopping and haggling over the price of items. The market has different sections and you must cleverly find your own way through, or else you might ended up going around at the same place. Had our Kow Mok Kai and Beef Noodle at one Muslim stall nearby the Clock Tower, yummeh!!!..

A man wearing Hello Kitty bag? Sooo..cute!

Spent 5 hours there before heading home. After taking a much needed rest, we went to Usman and had dinner there before going to Nana to do some shopping. At this time, I did enough walking that caused my backpain, decided to call it a day, went back to hostel room and fall asleep instantly.

Day 5 (The Parting Day)

Managed to do last minute shopping at Pratunam, famous for its garment and wholesales trading. For those who want to buy souvenirs in bundles for relatives back home, this is the place, not Chatuchak. You can get a silk scarf for 50 baht only if you buy more than 6pcs. The custom made men's suit and leather bags are cheaper than you can find at other places in Bkk. Crafts is hard to find tho...

Had our lunch at Nana before heading back to hostel and departed for Suvarnabhumi Airport at 2.30pm. Our flight took off at 6pm and landed at 9pm Msia time. Went to college by taxi and headed back to airport to wait for another batch of students, scheduled to arrive at 11.30pm. Send them home by taxi and then only we went home. There it goes, my journey to the Land of Smiles - Thailand....until then...

* Currently busy preparing the hantarans for my youngest sister, Oya for her bertunang event on 7th March 08. My niece, Ida will get married on the same day, and the next day, which is the election day is the Majlis.

Happy Electing people!! Vote for me!!!
